Description

View of the windows facing the entrance porch in Judson Alumni Hall; windows (L to R) are Rev. Charles Manly, D.D., Rev. J.C. Furman, D.D. and Thomas P. Smith. Stained glass was used throughout the building, but no memorial windows were on the second floor. Completed in 1900 on the Furman downtown campus in Greenville, S.C., it was named in honor of Charles Hallette Judson and Furman alumni. Designed by South Carolina native William Augustus Edwards, the building was constructed with two lecture rooms, two upstairs halls for the Adelphian and Philosophian Societies, and a large auditorium that served as the chapel, and the venue for commencement ceremonies. The Furman radio station was housed in the hall as early as 1924. Classrooms for the Law School were added in 1929.
